Elizabethtown, Pa. - The Catholic University of America women's basketball team earned its third straight conference victory, topping Elizabethtown 66-61 on the road, to remain undefeated at 3-0 in the Landmark.

Four Cardinals racked up double-digit points as senior Michelle DeSantis totaled a team-high 19. Fellow senior Melissa Errico and junior Payton Smith tallied 14 points each while junior reserve Samantha Cowan scored a season high 10.

With two points per team in the opening minutes, DeSantis went on a seven-points run followed by a layup from Errico to put the Cardinals up 11-2. Catholic head coach Matt Donohue called to his reserves in the second period and Cowan responded. Sinking 2-of-3 from behind the arc along with 2-of-2 free throws, Cowan posted eight points to help lift the Cardinals to an eight-point margin (33-25) at halftime.

During the third 10-minute period, DeSantis, Errico and Smith tallied 14 points for the Cardinals. The Blue Jays kept the game in reach scoring 14 of their own points for a 47-39 score going into the final period.

Keeping the Cardinals in check and looking for their first conference win the Blue Jays rallied in the fourth period. Trailing 54-41, E-town went on a 17-6 run to bring the game within two points (60-58), with just over one minute to play.

In the final minute E-Town managed a three-pointer but Catholic sunk 4-of-5 free throws along with a layup from Errico giving them a 66-61 conference victory.

The Cardinals return home to continue Landmark play, hosting Moravian College on Saturday, January 14. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
