Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America volleyball team suffered two defeats on day two of the Eastern Mennonite Invitational, falling Lynchburg and host EMU, 3-1.
The Cardinals went down 2-0 against Lynchburg, but fought back to take the third set. The Cards could get no closer however, despite a team-high 16 kills from senior Mary Paige Nesfeder.
Catholic once again found themselves in a two-set deficit against Eastern Mennonite but came back to take the third again. The fourth proved to be its bugaboo on the day though as they fell, 25-20.
Senior middle hitter continued her strong play to start the season, posting a team-high 14 kills to lead the attack against EMU. Five Cardinals had at least nine kills in the match.
Senior libero Michelle Bouchard continued her sparkling defensive effort for CUA through the first four games of the year, going for 25 and 20 digs, respectively. She was recognized on the All-Tournament Team.
Catholic will look to get back on the winning track at McDaniel on Tuesday night, before starting home on Friday and Saturday as they host the annual CUA Guetle Invitational.
