WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America volleyball improved to 13-4 overall all as they swept both its matches on the first weekend of Landmark Conference play. The Cardinals beat both host Moravian and Elizabethtown in straight-sets, 3-0.

Catholic has now won six of its last seven matches and three straight as they began a nine-game road trip. 

The Cardinals held Moravian under 17 points in each set during the first game Saturday at Johnston Hall in Bethlehem, Pa. Catholic boasted a .388 hitting percentage in the match and totaled 41 digs, led by 10 from senior libero Michelle Bouchard.

The Cardinals upped its offensive output in game two against Etown, hitting .442 for the match and was equally strong at the net with six blocks.

The first set of game two was the only one that saw a Catholic opponent reach 20 points as the Cards rebounded to hold the Blue Jays to 16 and 19 points in the second and third, respectively.

Six different Cardinals posted seven-or-more kills as junior middle hitter Tara Rempel posted a team-high 10.

Bouchard was everywhere defensively yet again as she totaled a match-high 21 digs.

Junior setter Michelle Seals assisted on 37 of 43 kills, posting the same number of assists in two-straight matches.

Catholic plays its third-straight road match and seventh in eight games when the Cards travel to Shenandoah next Thursday night.
