WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's tennis team improved to 2-1 this season, winning against Stevenson, 7-1, on the Jone and Marty Dowd Family Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.
The Cardinals won all but one match, taking 2-5 singles and all three doubles matches.
All-Landmark duo Laura Torsiello and Sarah MacLean teamed at No. 1 doubles to defeat Jenna Kove and Kelsi Mentzer, 8-2.
Head coach Dana Dowd also got strong performances from Erin Cole and Sierra Musumeci. Cole won at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 7-5, while Musumeci dropped just a single point in a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the three spot. The duo went on to win a No. 2 doubles in impressive fashion, 8-1.
Catholic heads to Mary Washington this weekend for the three-day ITA Regionals, beginning on Friday.
