WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's tennis team earned its first victory of the season in strong fashion, winning against Stevenson, 8-1, on the Jone and Marty Dowd Family Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.
The Cardinals won all but one match, taking all six singles matches.
Three-time First Team All-Landmark honoree Juan Lorido was impressive yet again, dropping just one point in his victory at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0. He also teamed with fellow all-conference player Jan Lasota at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-3.
Lasota also made it two wins on the day, as he blanked his opponent at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Junior Brendan Rooney was Catholic's third performer to earn two wins on the day, winning at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2, in addition to teaming with classmate Rob Alexander for the win at No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
Catholic heads to Mary Washington this weekend for the three-day ITA Regionals, beginning on Friday.
