Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America volleyball picked up two wins on its first day of the 2016 season, winning both of its games at the Eastern Mennonite Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va.
The Cardinals downed Bridgewater, 3-1, in its season-opener and went on to down Hood by the same score.
Against the Eagles, senior middle hitter Kathryn Herrington registered a career-best 20 kills on an impressive .476 hitting percentage to lead the way. Junior setter was everywhere for Catholic, putting up 45 assists and finished with a double-double, adding 13 digs.
The Cards took the first two sets against Bridgewater, and although the Eagles came back to take the third, Catholic rebounded to win 25-19 in the final set.
Catholic kept it going against Hood as Herrington once again led the way with a team-high 13 kills. Seals also went for the double-down; going for her second-straight double-dip with 37 assists and 12 digs.
Over the two wins, senior libero Michelle Bouchard totaled 45 digs.
Catholic continues to day two of the invitational tomorrow, playing Lynchburg and host Eastern Mennonite at 10 a.m., and noon.
