Box Score WASHINGTON – For the first time in the 2016 season, The Catholic University of America volleyball team fell on its home floor as the Cardinals were topped by No. 21 Mary Washington, 3-0.
The Eagles used a strong attack, hitting .302 with 43 kills to move past the Cards in straight-sets, while limiting Catholic's attack to only 21 kills.
Four Cardinals posted four-or-more put-aways, but none had more than five.
Mary Washington came out strong to take the first set 25-8, but Catholic fought tough in the next two, falling by five and four, respectively.
The nationally-ranked Eagles attack featured five players with six-or-more kills while setter Emma Olson keyed the offense with a match-high 29 assists and three service aces.
Junior setter Michelle Seals did her part for Catholic, assisting on 18 of 21 Cardinal kills.
The Cards will look to rebound this weekend when they travel to the Neumann Invitational this weekend for four games in two days.
