WASHINTON – The Catholic University of America women's tennis team won two matches in its season-opener against Gettysburg, but fell to the Bullets, 7-2.
Sophomore Erin Cole and junior Jenna Gietl combined at number two doubles to go over the team of Hailey Hoffman and Jeannie Van Buren for an 8-5 victory, the Cardinals' first of the day.
Catholic also picked up a singles victory as junior All-Landmark player Sarah MacLean earned the win at No. 3, 8-2.
The Cards return to action on the road, Saturday, September 17 at noon against St. Mary's and come back to the Jone and Marty Dowd Family Tennis Courts on Thursday, September 22 at 3 p.m., when they host Stevenson.
