WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's tennis team opened their fall season on Saturday at the Jone and Marty Dowd Family Tennis Courts. The Cardinals took on Gettysburg, but fell, 8-1.
The Cardinals earned their win in the top match as junior Jan Lasota defeated the Bullets' No. 1 singles player, 6-3, 6-1.
The Cards also had two very close singles matches.
Lasota teamed with junior Rob Alexander in the No. spot, but were edged, 8-6.
Sophomore Ted Tiu and Matt Pham teamed in the next spot, but Gettysburg's No. 2 team found the advantage, 8-4.
Catholic was also forced to take three DQ's at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Cardinals return to the court in road action next Saturday at St. Mary's.
