Catholic Softball Advances to Day Two of Landmark Championship

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Bethlehem, Pa.– Thanks to a huge a two-run homer from junior Rebekah Hoisl, The Catholic University of America softball team is on to day two of the Landmark Conference Championship, hosted by Moravian.

The No. 2 Cardinals earned a come-from-behind win in its first game of the double-elimination tournament, defeating No. 3 Susquehanna, 2-1. In its second game against No. 1 Moravian, Catholic was topped, 6-1.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning against Susquehanna, Hoisl launched a clutch home run after after a Rachel Valdes walk that put Catholic up for good.

Junior third baseman Erin Adams joined Hoisl in going 2-for-3 in game one and matched the performance in game two.

Rookie All-Landmark pitcher Kelly Lynch put up yet another complete game performance, scattering eight hits with five strikeouts.

Moravian struck first on an RBI single in the second, but Catholic answered in the next frame as Hoisl did it again with run-crossing single of her own.

The Greyhounds bats came alive after that however, tying the game in the third before plating four more in the fourth for the win.

The Cards now move onto an elimination game tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., facing the winner of Susquehanna and Scranton.
