Box Score Selinsgrove, Pa. – The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team came up with a huge road victory at Susquehanna, 8-6, to advance to its second-straight Landmark Conference Championship Game on Wednesday afternoon.
The No. 3 seeded Cardinals never trailed in the contest and broke a 3-3 tie early in the second, before holding off several Crusader rallies.
First Team All-Landmark goalie Harrison Holak was sensational for head coach Brooks Singer, making 12 saves while adding a team-high six ground balls and even added a caused turnover.
The Cardinal defense owned the turnover battle, forcing Susquehanna into 17 miscues, including six in each of the final two periods.
Four different Cards scored offensively, led by first team all-conference midfielder Victor Licata. The junior scored a game-high three goals, including the go-ahead goal in the second quarter.
Junior Ethan Rodriguez also came up with big, late goals scoring with 3:26 left in the third, putting Catholic up 7-5. After the Crusaders closed to back within one, it was Rodriguez again, putting in the lone goal of the final frame, which clinched the victory for the Cards.
Catholic, the defending league champions, will now face off at No. 1 seed Elizabethtown on Saturday at 1 p.m., with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
