Box Score Elizabethtown, Pa. – The Catholic University of America women's tennis was the first Cardinal athletic team to compete in Landmark postseason play, but the No. 4 Cards were topped by No. 1 Elizabethtown, 5-1.
Catholic was able to pick up a win in doubles action as the Cards' No. 3 team of senior Lindsay Rekstis and sophomore Maria Flores combined for an 8-5 playoff victory.
The Cardinals went on to take all three of its top singles matches to third sets as No. 1 junior Laura Torsiello, No. 2 sophomore Jenna Gietl and No. 3 sophomore Sarah MacLean each won game. The trio also earned at least two points in the deciding frame, but the Blue Jays were able to pick up the needed three wins to close out the Cards.
Catholic finishes the season with a 10-7 overall record and a 4-3 mark in conference play, including three-straight regular season Landmark wins and four of its last five, propelling the Cardinals to the postseason play for the fourth-consecutive year.
