Box Score WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse season saw its season come to a close on Wednesday afternoon as the Cardinals fell in the NCAA First Round at No. 3 Salisbury, 19-6.
The nationally-ranked Seagulls scored the first four goals of the game, but Catholic rallied to make it a one-goal game with a 4-1 run to end the first period. It was all Salisbury from there however as SU's No. 3 scoring offense in the country took over, adding 11-straight to scoreboard.
Senior goalkeeper Harrison Holak did all he could to keep the Cardinals in it, making 19 saves with three ground balls in his final collegiate game.
Sophomore Bennett Bradley was the standout for the Cards' offense as he scored a game-high five goals, tying a career-best mark. Bradley put eight of his nine shots on goal and also picked up a team-high six ground balls.
Dylan Neville added Catholic's other goal, burying the feed from junior Victor Licata with three seconds left in the first period that made it 5-4 early in the contest.
The Cardinals advanced to their second-straight NCAA Tournament thanks to an upset-victory at top-seeded Elizabethtown in the Landmark Conference Championship. The win came on overtime buzzer-beater. It is the second-straight NCAA berth and league title for Catholic, its first two in program history.
