Box Score Scranton, Pa. – Facing a win or go-home situation, The Catholic University of America men's lacrosse team put on an impressive showing on the road, winning at Scranton, 11-3. The Cardinals led by just one at the break, but came alive in the second half to clinch a spot in the 2016 Landmark Conference Championship Tournament.
Catholic scored the first two goals of the game, but the Royals stayed close in the first 30 minutes, holding the Cards to just a one-goal lead at intermission, 3-2.
The Cardinals' offense clicked into high gear in the second stanza, outscoring Scranton 8-1 in the final 30.
Senior goalkeeper Harrison Holak was huge for Catholic, making 14 saves while facing 47 shots. Holak also picked up a team-high five ground balls.
Junior Tim Keith once again led the Cards' attack, scoring six goals, finding the back on the net on all but two of his shots. The six scores tie his season-high.
Sophomore Bennett Bradley filled the statsheet with two goals, one assist and a ground ball while sophomore Samuel Montgomery picked up a goal, assists, ground ball and caused turnover.
In all, five different Cardinals scored while seven tallied points.
Catholic also made the most of its man-up chances, going a perfect 3-of-3 while Scranton struggled to a 0-of-5 mark.
The Cardinals enter the Landmark playoffs as the defending champs and No. 3 seed. Catholic will take to the road, facing off against No. 2 Susquehanna (12-4, 5-1) on Wednesday, April 4, at 4 p.m.
