Men's Tennis Splits Landmark Weekend

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's tennis team split a Landmark Conference weekend, falling to Juniata, 7-2, before picking up a big road victory at Moravian, 6-3.

Catholic's top-five singles competitors all registered wins against the Greyhounds. No. 1 junior Juan Lorido won in straight sets, while No. 2 sophomore Jan Lasota added a 6-0, 6-3. Matthew Holtschneider, Rocky Alhaqbani and Rob Alexander each followed with wins.

Alexander also teamed with rookie Ted Tiu to earn a doubles win for the Cardinals, going 8-1 over Moravian's No. 3 doubles team.

The Cards added two wins against Juniata, both coming in singles competition. Lorido was victorious again at No. 1 singles, going 6-1, 6-4 over Dean Polisena.

Lasota also made it a 2-0 weekend at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-1, 6-2 against the Eagles' Roy Liberman.

With one weekend left on the regular season schedule, the Cardinals have two crucial matches with playoff implications. Catholic heads up to Drew on Saturday before returning home to take on Susquehanna on Sunday.
