WASHINGTON – A return to the Dowd Family Courts was exactly what The Catholic University of America women's tennis team needed as swept every match against Goucher, winning 9-0.
The Cardinals top two came up big for head coach Dana Dowd as junior No. 1 Laura Torsiello was victorious, 6-1, 6-3 in singles competition before teaming with sophomore Sarah MacLean to win No. 1 doubles, 8-3. MacLean also won No. 2 singles in impressive fashion, 6-1, 6-0.
The senior-freshman combo Lindsay Rekstis and Erin Cole was also strong as the duo won at No. 2 doubles, 8-3. Rekstis was also victorious at No. 3 singles, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2, while Cole posted a big win at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1.
Catholic's final duo of sophomore Maria Flores and rookie Lisa Genadry posted an 8-5 win at No. 3. Flores got her win at No. 5, 6-4, 6-3, as Genadry picked up the final W with dual 6-1 scores.
The Cardinals continue home action with more Landmark action against Juniata at 1 p.m.
