Box Score 2 Frederick, Md. – Junior shortstop Rebekah Hoisl powered The Catholic University of America softball team to an impressive 10-0, five-inning win at Hood on Wednesday afternoon, blasting a home run to go along with two stolen bases.
Though the Cardinals were able to take game one and score first in game two, Hood came back to salvage a split, 5-2.
Hoisl was one of four Cards to go 2-for-3 with at least two runs in game one as she was joined by junior catcher Kristina Lozupone, junior third baseman Erin Adams and sophomore center fielder Rachel Valdes.
Hoisl and Adams each went deep in the game as Adams led Catholic with three RBI. Valdes joined Hoisl with a stolen base.
Catholic scored in all but one inning, going for two in the first and three in both the third and fourth, before reaching the 10-run mark with two more in the fifth.
Rookie pitcher Kelly Lynch continued her strong work in the circle, blanking Hood in the complete game effort, striking out five while scattering five singles.
The Cardinals scored the first runs of game two on a two-RBI single by rookie Rebecca Marks but Hood came back to get on in the bottom of the frame before taking the lead with a three-run third inning.
The Cards threatened several times, but Hood reliever Sophia Leaman went five scoreless innings to keep Catholic from mounting the comeback.
Catholic continues its six-game road swing with a doubleheader at Stevenson this Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
