Men's Tennis Downs Scranton, 5-4

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's tennis team earned a Landmark Conference victory at home on the Dowd Family Courts, defeating Scranton, 5-4.

Top top competitors each won their matches as Catholic took 1-4 singles and number one and doubles.

Junior Juan Lorido led the way with two victories, each at No. 1. Lorido won 6-3 over Scranton's Alexander Ochalski, 6-3, 6-1, and then combined with senior Rocky Alhaqbani to take the top doubles match, 8-6.

Alhaqhani was also victorious in his singles match, winning over the Royals' No. 4, 6-2, 7-6, 6-1.

Sophomore Jan Lasota took No. 2 singles, 6-1, 7-6, taking the deciding point, 7-5. Classmate Matthew Holtschneider was also victorious at No. 3, winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

The Cardinals continue Landmark play this Saturday at Elizabethtown, beginning at 1 p.m.
