Box Score 2 Chestertown, Md. – The Catholic University of America softball team rebounded after a 5-1 loss at Washington College on Thursday afternoon as the offense came alive in game two, plating 10 runs in a five-inning, run rule victory, 10-2.
The Cardinals struck first, scoring on a wild pitch in the top of third inning of game number one, but Washington scored five, three unearned, in the bottom of the fame to secure the win.
Catholic rallied in game two however, scoring seven runs in the first two innings of the second contest, including five in the second. The Cards added two more in the fourth and game-winning run in the fifth after two by Washington College on an RBI single by junior catcher
Kristina Lozupone.
Lozupone was one of four Cardinal batters to record two hits in the second game and led the squad with three RBI in the game.
Junior leadoff hitter Rebekah Hoisl, rookie Hailey Horton and senior Christy Sanchez each tallied two hits in the second contest as Catholic totaled 12 hits and eight RBI in the matchup.
Starting pitcher Megan Colline improved to 6-1 in the circle the Cardinals, scattering five hits over five innings with three strikeouts. Colline also added to her cause on the offensive side of the ball, hitting her first home run of the year while upping her RBI total to 14.
The Cards return home this Saturday for a Landmark doubleheader against Scranton starting at 1 p.m.
