Box Score 2 Elizabethtown, Pa. – The Catholic University of America softball team split a Landmark doubleheader at Elizabethtown on Saturday. The Cardinals took game one, 2-1, in extra innings, but fell in the final inning of game two, 3-2.
Junior third baseman Erin Adams continued her recent hot streak, going a combined 4-for-6 with an RBI in each game.
Etown scored runs in the bottom of the seventh in each game. In the first contest, Adams came though with an RBI single that scored rookie Hailey Horton, who doubled just two batters early to star the eighth inning.
Fellow freshman Kelly Lynch improved to 8-2 this season going the distance for the eighth time, allowing just one Blue Jay run. She scattered eight hits with five strikeouts.
Thanks to a two-run third inning that included another RBI single from Adams, Catholic looked to be in control. It was Elizabethtown with the late-inning comeback again however, as back-to-back hits after an error and a groundout led to just the fifth Cardinal loss of the season.
After a quick Easter break, the Cardinals will return to the field on Thursday with a doubleheader at Washington College, starting at 3 p.m.
