WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's tennis team played its first home match on the Spring on Saturday and despite several strong performances, the Cardinals were edged, 5-4, by York.
Catholic was victorious at No. 2 doubles as Jenna Gietl combined with Erin Cole to win for an 8-4 win.
The Cardinals also won three-straight matches in singles competition, beginning with Lindsay Rekstis at No. 4 singles, who won, 6-3, 6-4.
Cole picked up her second win of the day at No. 5 singles, going over in 6-0 in both sets. She was fallowed by a 6-2, 6-1 win by Maria Flores in the final matchup of the day.
The Cardinals will have a short break before returning to the courts on Wednesday, March 30, playing at local foe Trinity at 3:30 p.m.
