Box Score

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's basketball team (7-2) is off to its best start in four years thanks to a 72-59 victory over Gettysburg on Sunday afternoon on Franny Murray Court, inside the DuFour Center.

Senior guard Louis Khouri took over the game and went for a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Khouri was 8-of-14 from the field with six 3-pointers and was a perfect 5-of-5 mark from the free throw line. He also added two steals and three assists.

Khouri's performance helped Catholic build a 10-point lead at the break, 34-24. The Cardinals went on to knock down over half of its 3-point attempts in the second half (6-of-11) and held the Bullets to just 6-of-23 shooting from distance for the game.

The Cardinals totaled 12 treys in the game as sophomore Andre Mitchell knocked down a career-high four 3-pointers. Mitchell posted a full line in 39 minutes of action, with 16 points, seven assists, five rebounds and a steal.

For the second-straight game, which came just 22 hours after its last one, freshman Riley Hayes came off the bench and shot well as he went 4-of-5 from the field for eight points, two assists and two rebounds.

Gettysburg scored the first basket of the game and led early, 4-3, but Catholic went on an 11-4 run to take control. The Bullets were able to close within four, 19-15, but the Cardinals answered again with an 8-0 stretch that put them up by double-digits.

The lead was cut to eight points as Gettysburg scored on the first possession of the second half, but a jumper from sophomore Andrew Wade put the Cards back up by double-digits, an advantage they held until the final whistle.

Catholic will take a break for Christmas, but returns home and a perfect 4-0 record on Franny Murray Court, as the Cardinals host their annual CUA-Holiday Inn College Park Classic on December 28th and 29th.
