WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America volleyball team crossed the bridge on Wednesday night to take local foe Marymount. The two teams battled back-and-forth, forcing a fifth set, but the Cardinals were ultimately edged, 3-2.

Catholic one the first set of the match, but Marymount rallied for to take the next two. The Cards answered with a 25-19 win the fourth, but at 10-7 in the final set, Marymount went on a 5-2 run to win the game.

Junior Amy O'Connor paced the Cardinals' offense with 11 kills and was joined in double-digit put-aways by senior Kathryn Herrington, who registered 10. Herrington also added a team-high three service aces, five blocks and three digs.

Junior setter Michelle Seals posted a double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs, and rounded out her line with four kills and a service ace.

Senior libero Michelle Bouchard once again anchored the defense and led five Cards in double-digit digs with 19. She also added two service aces and an assist.

Though Catholic performed admirably, Marymount racked up 20 more kills, 22 assists, four blocks and 13 more digs to help pull out the victory.

The Cardinals head to Swarthmore this weekend for the Garnett Classic with matches against Colby and Scranton set for Friday and Saturday, respectively.
