Harrisonburg, Va. – The Catholic University of America volleyball team improved to 5-0 on Saturday, registering two 3-0 victories against Methodist and host Eastern Mennonite at the EMU Invitational. CUA improves to 15-0 in total sets early in the 2015 season.

The Cardinals started day two of the invite against EMU and set the tone with a 25-11 win in the first set. CUA rolled to a 25-15 win in the second and posted its fourth-straight sweep with a 25-21 win in the third.

Sophomore Maria Cristina Juelle led the way with a double-double with 10 kills and a match-high 14 digs. Her classmate Brynn Cooley was right on Juelle's heals­­, posting a match-leading 11 kills and just missed the double-dip with nine digs. Sophomore libero Michelle Bouchard also tied Juelle with 14 digs, with junior Michelle Seals led all players with 32 assists.

CUA kept it going in its second game of the day against Methodist, earning two 25-15 wins to start the match before winning with a 25-20 third set.

Junior Mary Paige Nesfeder totaled a double-double of her own with 10 kills and 11 digs, while Cooley and Juelle posted 12-6 and 6-9 lines of their own.

Bouchard was active along the back line again, totaling 21 digs while Seals outdid her game one performance with 38 assists.

For their efforts, Juelle and Seals were named to the all-tournament team.

With its Labor Day Weekend tournament wrapped up, Catholic returns to the DuFour Center next week for five games, beginning with a match against McDaniel on Wednesday, September 5 at 7 p.m.
