Box Score 2 WASHINGTON - After sweeping Gettysburg in their home opening match on Wednesday night, The Catholic University of America volleyball team took down both Salem College and Mary Baldwin College in a 3-0 sweep on Friday night at the Eastern Mennonite Invitational. With the win the Cardinals now sit at 3-0 for the 2015 season.
Catholic opened the tournament at 5:20 p.m., Friday versus Mary Baldwin. The Cards did not give up more than 12 points a set, sweeping the Fighting Squirrels with ease.
CUA sophomore Maria Cristina Juelle lead the squad with six kills in the event while fellow sophomore Michelle Seals racked up 15 assists. Sophomore libero Michelle Bouchard had a team high 10 digs against Mary Baldwin to help guide the team to the victory.
The second match of the night featured the undefeated Cardinals and the Salem College Spirits at 7:20 p.m. The Cards continued their unbeaten streak with their third sweep of the year.
Catholic junior Mary Paige Nesfeder registered 10 kills and Seals tallied a whopping 28 assists. Bouchard led the team with 9 digs while sophomores Brynn Cooley and Seals each recorded eight.
The Cardinals continue their season at the Eastern Mennonite Invitational Saturday, September 5 versus Eastern Mennonite at 10 a.m. and Methodist at 2 p.m.
