Gettysburg, Pa.- The Catholic University of America men's tennis team fell 9-0 at Gettysburg on Saturday, ending their two-match winning streak.
Freshman Ted Tiu and sophomore Jan Lasota played the closest game against the Bullets, falling only 8-5. Senior Conor Wilson and sophomore Brendan Rooney fell 8-4, while senior/sophomore combo Rocky Alhaqbani and Robert Alexander suffered an 8-2 defeat.
Lasota fell in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1, while freshman Alex Davis played for the Cardinals with a close game against the Bullet's sophomore Alex Gold in No. 6 singles, falling just 7-6, 7-3, and 6-0. Alhagbani fell in a 6-3, 6-4 loss at No. 2 singles.
"We're very appreciative of Coach Andy inviting us up to Gettysburg to play his terrific team. Having this opportunity to play a strong team during our fall season will help us tremendously in preparation for the important Landmark Conference dual matches we will face in spring 2016," said head coach Richard Bausch. "We have a lot of work to do between now and then and hopefully this experience of being outplayed on every court throughout the day will help our players focus their attention on better percentage execution of the basics. We will go back to practice and continue to maintain the high effort level necessary to improve and grow as a team."
CUA men's tennis will travel to Hood College on Wednesday, Sept. 30, for a 3 p.m. match.
