Box Score 2 WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America softball team dropped both games in a Landmark Conference double header to Moravian (8-3, 6-0).
The loss brings the Cardinals to and 8-8 overall record while they fall to 1-3 in the conference. The Greyhounds advance their record to 12-2 in 2015 and lead the Landmark with a 4-0 record.
In game one the Greyhounds got off to an early 5-0 lead after two innings. The Cards cut the lead to 5-3 with two runs in the bottom of the third inning and one in the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, with two outs and runners on first and second, Kristina Lozupone drove a 2-RBI double down the left field line to score Rebekah Hoisl and Monica Peters.
Later in the fifth inning, with runners on first and second, CUA's Victoria Marcavage hit a sacrifice bunt to put the runners in scoring positions. Peters followed with a single into center field bringing in Rachel Valdes and Christie Sanchez.
The Greyhounds notched two more in the sixth and one in the seventh to top the Cardinals 8-3.
Megan Colline pitched all seven innings for the Cardinals throwing two strike outs while giving up eight runs.
In game two CUA gave up six runs to Moravian in the third inning. Despite their five hits throughout the seven innings the Cardinals were unable to score any runs ending the game, just before the sun went down, with a 6-0 score in favor of the Greyhounds.
Catholic's Sydney McGrath was charged with the loss after pitching 2.2 innings giving up six walks and six runs. Kimberly Giurlando closed out the last 4.1 innings for the Cards with two strike outs.
The Cards continue their Landmark action at home with a double header against Susquehanna Satruday, April 4. First pitch of game was will be thrown at 1 pm, game two will begin 20 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
