WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America women's tennis team came up short in their conference match against Elizabethtown College 6-3.
In doubles, Liz Harvey and Laura Torsiello won their top flight 8-4 while the other two teams fell short. Eliana Martinez and Jenna Gietl lost a tight match 9-8(8-6) and Maria Flores and Sarah McLean fell 8-1.
In singles action, Harvey won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Harvey's partner, Toriello, also won but in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-3). The remaining spots were tough losses from Martinez (6-3, 6-4) Needham(6-1, 4-6, 6-3), Gietl(6-3, 6-2), and Flores (4-6, 6-2, (10-6)).
The Lady Cards plan to rally back for their last conference match against Goucher College in Towson, Md. on Wednesday, April 15 at 5 p.m.
