Box Score Carlisle, Pa. – Senior point guard Bryson Fonville dropped 28 points to lead the way for The Catholic University of America men's basketball team as the Cardinals won at Dickinson, 81-71, on Friday night.
Fonville shot nearly 50-percent from the field (7-of-15) while knocking down two 3-pointers and getting to the line an impressive 14 times, hitting 12 from the charity stripe.
The senior All-American led two other Cards with 18-or-more points in the contest as CUA boasted the top three scorers in the game. Junior forward Corey Stanford got going for head coach Steve Howes, scoring 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting including two treys.
Sophomore big man Jay Howard joined the duo with 18 points along with a team-high six rebounds and three blocks. Seven Cardinals pulled down at least two boards in the game while five had four-or-more.
For the game, Catholic shot 46.9 percent from the field (23-of-49) while being stingy on the 3-point line against the Red Devils, holding Dickinson to only six makes on 21 attempted long range shots.
CUA led from wire-to-wire, bringing an 11-point lead into the break. Dickinson cut it to six at 60-54 with 11:54 to play, but the Cards quickly went on a 13-0 run to take control for good.
Catholic now takes a break for exams and the Christmas season before hosting its annual tournament at CUA on December 29 and 30th.
