Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – Playing as close to home as it has in a month, The Catholic University of America volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over RIT at the Gallaudet Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Junior outside Mary Paige Nesfeder continued her recent hot streak to lead the Cardinals to victory. Nesfeder, who set a season-high with 18 kills in her last match, tallied 15, her second most of the year, in the victory. She also just missed a double-double with nine digs.
Catholic came out strong with a 25-17 victory in the first and followed it up with a 10-point win in the second. Rochester was able to take the third by three, but the Cards rallied for their best set of the day with a 25-13 win in the fourth.
Sophomore setter Michelle Seals posted a team-high 27 assists while also adding eight digs while junior libero Michelle Bouchard tallied a match-high 23 digs in addition to two service aces and four assists.
The Cardinals will look to keep it rolling with three more matches in the next day at Gallaudet.
