WASHINGTON – It was a special night at the DuFour Center on Tuesday night and not just because The Catholic University of America volleyball team rallied after a first set loss to defeat D.C. foe Gallaudet, 3-1. With the victory, head coach Nagy Abdelrazek recorded his 500th career victory, all with CUA.

The Cardinals were topped in the first set by the Bison, 25-20, but Catholic stormed back with an impressive 25-14 victory. The Cards went on to win a close third set by two points, before closing out the milestone victory, 25-21.

Junior Mary Paige Nesfeder led the way with a game-high 17 kills, one short of her season high. Nesfeder also tallied a double-double, registering 14 digs.

Sophomore setter Michelle Seals dished out 38 assists and added a double-double of her own with 10 digs to go along with two service aces. Junior libero Michelle Bouchard totaled a match-high 17 digs.

Abdelrazek is in his 23rd season at the helm of the Cardinals. He recorded his 400th win in the 2011 season, but thanks to six straight 20-win seasons, he has quickly reached the 500-victory plateau.

Catholic wraps up regular season play this weekend at Frostburg State, playing three games over two days beginning Friday.

CUA has already secured a top-four finish in the Landmark Conference to secure a berth in the playoffs. The Cards will play at No. 1 Juniata on Wednesday, November 4 at 7 p.m., in the Landmark Semifinals.
