Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's volleyball team concluded the first Landmark Conference weekend with a win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy and a loss to the University of Scranton in the DuFour Athletic Center on Saturday.
The conference quad match consisted of Goucher, USMMA and Scranton.
Catholic's win of the day came in three sets, taking down the United States Merchant Marine Academy 25-20, 25-20, 25-19.
Mary Paige Nesfeder guided the kill effort with 16 kills on 39 attempts with eight errors, while Michelle Seals powered the offense with 32 assists. Michelle Bouchard dug 11 USMMA attacks. Audrey Bizak and Kathryn Herrington tallied two solo blocks each.
In their four set 25-27, 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 loss to the Royals, three Cardinals notched double-digit kill numbers. Nesfeder led with 12 kills, as Brynn Cooley recorded 11 kills and Herrington finished 10 kills. Seals orchestrated the offense and registered 37 assists alongside her two service aces and 10 digs. Bouchard collected a team-high 14 digs. Herrington, Bizak and Cristina Juelle recorded solid numbers on the net with three solo blocks from Herrington, four block assists from Bizak and three block assists from Juelle.
CUA is now 16-3 overall and 1-2 in Landmark Conference play.
Catholic will play their next two matches at the DuFour Athletic Center beginning with a 7:00 p.m. match with Mary Washington on Tuesday, September 30, followed by a match against York (Pa.) on Wednesday, October 1 also at 7:00 p.m.
