Cardinal Softball Splits Conference Action with Elizabethtown

WASHINGTON – The Cardinal softball team split Saturday action with a 2-0 win and 7-4 loss to Elizabethtown in Elizabethtown, Pa., on Saturday.

For the opening game win, the Cards recorded a single run in the top of the second and top of the sixth.

Victoria Capozucca recorded a win during game one with outstanding nine strikeouts and only allowing two hits.  Capozucca did not allow a single run in the win.

Christy Sanchez guided the offensive effort with a run, hit and RBI. 

During game two, Elizabethtown took a demonstrative 7-0 run by the bottom of the third with three runs in the first and second inning and a single run on the third.  Catholic recorded two runs in the top of the fifth and seventh to avoid a shutout.

Kristina Lozupone tallied two hits and two RBIs in the loss.  Kerri Apicella endured the loss by allowing six hits and six runs and recording one strikeout.

The Cards continue the weekend with doubleheader against Shenandoah on Sunday,  the first pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m.
