Box Score 4 WASHINGTON – CUA freshman catcher Kristina Lozupone led the squad by hitting above .400, while senior pitcher Victoria Capozucca went 4-of-1 from the mound with a 1.49 era for a 5-4 finish during the Rebel Spring Games in Winter Haven, Fla.
The Cards opened the weeklong event with a 6-2 win over Simpson and an 8-5 victory over Waynesburg, the final three wins were shutouts, as CUA conquered Westminster (Pa.) 3-0, Hiram 14-0 and Geneva 5-0.
Lozupone, who finished with three triples and seven RBIs, tallied seven runs and 13 hits on 30 at bats for a .433 average. Freshman Erin Adams recorded the second highest outing from the plate, with two doubles and five RBIs alongside three runs and 12 hits for a .429 average.
Capozucca, who started in five games and appeared in six contests for a total 36.1 innings pitched, struck out 16 batters, walked eight, allowed 26 hits and eight runs.
Catholic welcomes Mary Washington on Wednesday, March 19 for the official home opener with a doubleheader slated for 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
