Box Score WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's volleyball team suffered its eighth loss of the season, as they fell in four sets (18-25, 25-21, 25-9, 25-13) to the Stevenson University Mustangs Thursday evening in the DuFour Athletic Center.
The Cardinals are now 20-8 on the year and 1-4 in the Landmark Conference, while SU improves to 20-3. They are 4-0 in the Middle Athletic Conference.
CUA took the first set with ease, reaching a 10-4 lead and cruising to a final 25-18 frame victory.
In the second set, both teams went point-for-point until each squad was tied at 16 points apiece. SU took the lead on a kill from Dahlia Duncan, and eventually reached a 25-21 set win.
After an opening third set kill from Mary Paige Nesfeder, the Mustangs seized the match and proceeded to a final 25-9 triumph.
Retaining their previous set momentum, Stevenson closed out the match with a final 25-13 fourth set win.
Nesfeder concluded the evening with a team-high eight kills. Michelle Seals distributed 18 of the total 20 assists. Michelle Bouchard gathered 14 digs, as Kathryn Herrington tallied three solo blocks.
Catholic heads to Elizabethtown for the third Landmark Conference Weekend of the season. Taking on Moravian and conference newcomers E-Town on Saturday, October 18 in Elizabethtown, Pa.
