CUA remains unbeaten in Landmark after taking down Scranton

WASHINGTON – CUA moved to 2-0 in the Landmark Conference on Saturday with its first win over Scranton. The Cardinals swept the doubles points en route to a 6-3 win as CUA improves to 10-2 overall. Marge Selinger, Caitlin Porter and Emma Needham earned singles wins on the day for CUA as well.

Selinger get CUA started with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Stephanie Boccuzzi at 1st singles, while Porter picked up a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 win at the 5th flight.

At 6th singles, Needham defeated Courtney Barron 6-2, 6-2.

Liz Harvey fell to Megan Azzalina 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 at 3rd singles, while Rita Holden dropped a 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 decision at the 4th flight, and Elaina Sceusa was upended 6-3, 7-6 at the 4th flight.

In doubles action, Selinger and Harvey teamed up for an 8-5 win at the 1st flight over Boccuzzi and Devon Cohen, while Holden and Porter took down Nicole Mahaffey and Emily Walsh 8-3 at the 2nd flight.

At 3rd doubles, Sceusa and Isabel Tanco picked up an 8-4 victory against Azzalina and Lindsay Ward.

CUA is right back to work on Sunday afternoon, hosting Susquehanna at 1 p.m.
