WASHINGTON – CUA dropped a tough 5-4 decision to Drew on Senior Day, dropping the Cards to 4-2 in the Landmark Conference. Kyle Kramer, Joe Peters and Jason Quisberth earned wins in singles competition for CUA, while Schuyler Hayward and Quisberth picked up a doubles win.
At 1st singles, Brian Bradley gave Raul Smego, one of the conference's top players, all he could handle. Bradley, battling an injury, dropped the first set 6-5, before being forced to retire.
Cassian Utrie dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision at 2nd singles, while Kramer earned a 6-1, 7-5 victory against Djedjy Hill at the 3rd flight.
At 4th singles, Peters defeated Matt Imbo 6-3, 6-2, and Quisberth picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Adam Clark at the 6th flight.
Hayward was upended 6-2, 6-3 at 5th singles by Tommy Butschi.
In doubles, Hayward and Quisberth downed Butschi and Clark at the 3rd flight, 8-4.
Smego and Hill defeated Bradley and Utrie 8-2 at the 1st flight, while Kramer and Peters were upended 8-2 at the 2nd flight.
CUA is back on action on Monday when the Cards play host to Randolph-Macon at 3 p.m.
