TOWSON, Md. – CUA suffered its first Landmark Conference
loss of the season on Wednesday, falling at Goucher by a score of
7-2. Caitlin Porter and Emma Needham were responsible for the
Cardinals points, earning wins at 5th and 6th singles,
respectively.
Porter swept Emily Ruff 6-0, 6-0 at the 5th singles flight, while
Needham picked up a hard-fought 7-4, 7-6 victory at the 6th
flight.
Marge Selinger suffered a tough 6-2, 4-6, 12-10 defeat to Ariel Lin
at 1st singles, while Liz Harvey was upended 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 at the
2nd flight.
At 3rd singles, Ritamarie Holden was downed by Alex Walsh 6-3, 6-1,
while Elaina Sceusa fell to Addie Maxwell 6-2, 6-2 at the 4th
flight.
In doubles action, Lin and Meaghan Lee picked up an 8-5 win over
Selinger and Harvey at the 1st flight, while at the 2nd flight,
Holden and Porter were defeated 8-6 by Walsh and Maxwell.
Sceusa and Isabel Tanco dropped a 9-7 decision at 3rd doubles vs.
Kelsey Turner and Emily Ruff.
CUA returns home for its next match, hosting Drew on Saturday
afternoon. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
