Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – CUA had its hands full with No. 6
Washington College (5-0) on Tuesday evening, falling to the
Shoremen 18-3. Cam Feldman scored twice and Nathan Chan once
for the Cardinals (3-5), who saw their two-game win streak come to
an end. Stephen Luck led Washington College with three scores.
The Shoremen got on the board only 33 seconds into the game, when
Matt Lewis found the back of the net.
CUA hung tough with the nation's sixth ranked team, holding
WC to only two more scores in the opening quarter.
Bennett Cord's goal a little over three minutes into the 2nd
put the Shoremen in front by four, and a quick 4-0 run minutes
later doubled the deficit for CUA.
After leading by nine at halftime, Washinton College added four
more goals early in the 3rd to go in front 13-0.
Chan got the Cards on the board for the first time at the 9:10
mark of the quarter, tallying his sixth goal of 2013.
CUA's second goal came from Feldman with 12:03 to play in
the game, with Walter Hickey picking up the assist.
Feldman then added another score with 6:31 on the clock to
complete the scoring for both teams.
Hickey and Ryan McDonough shared top honors with three ground
balls apiece for CUA, while Mark Destro and Mike Frey caused two
turnovers each.
Destro also played 12 minutes in goal, splitting time with Kevin
Cardillo in the second half. Cardillo stopped four shots, while
starter Harrison Holak sent back 11 shots in the opening 30
minutes.
On Saturday, CUA heads to Kings Point, N.Y., to face Merchant
Marine Academy in the Landmark Conference opener. Start time is set
for 1:30 p.m.
