Randolph-Macon Downs Visiting Cardinals, 80-63

Andre Simon scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Randolph-Macon College to an 80-63 victory over Catholic University at Crenshaw Gymnasium in Ashland, Va., on Sunday afternoon.

R-MC, the preseason pick to win the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, won its third straight game. Both teams are 4-3.

Austin Calling and Bryson Fonville scored 11 points apiece to lead the Cardinals, who made just 21 of 60 shots (35 percent) and were out-rebounded, 47-35. Riley Kirsch set a new career high with 13 rebounds. Steve Limberiou, the Cards' leading scorer (17 ppg), was held to a season-low seven points.

Lamont Moore added 13 points for the Yellow Jackets, who took a 42-29 lead into halftime. Connor Sullivan had 12 points and Akeem Sullivan tallied nine points and 12 boards. Simon was 10 of 16 from the floor and Sullivan 5 of 8. R-MC succeeded on 30 of its 65 field goal attempts (46.2 percent).

The Yellow Jackets, leading 32-27, seized control with a 10-2 first-half-closing run. They maintained a double-digit lead the entire second half.

CUA plays its final game before Christmas break against Dickisnon College at DuFour Center on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
