OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Cardinals remained unbeaten this
fall season with a 9-0 sweep of Stevenson on Thursday
afternoon. CUA received singles wins from Margie Selinger,
Ritamarie Holden, Elaina Sceusa, Isabel Tanco, Emma Needham and
Maria Notarianni, while Selinger and Sceusa, Needham and Notarianni
and Holden and Katherine Buer won doubles points.
Selinger and Holden both swept their opponents at first and second
singles, respectively, while Sceusa earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over
Svetlana Widell at third singles.
Tanco defeated Katie Fersch 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth flight and
Needham took down Alyssa Henry 6-1, 6-2 at fifth singles.
At sixth singles, Notarianni earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rachel
Mullet.
In doubles action, Selinger and Sceusa downed Susannah Hoblitzel
and Jordan Rupard 8-1 at the first flight, and Needham and
Notarianni defeated Widell and Fersch 8-4 at second doubles.
At third doubles, Holden and Buer earned an 8-1 win over Henry and
Mullet.
CUA closes out its fall schedule on Sunday afternoon when the
Cardinals welcome Hood to town. Start time is set for 1
p.m.
