NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – CUA fell to No. 5 Christopher Newport 3-0 on Friday evening, snapping the Cardinals' five-match win streak.  The Captains won by scores of 25-11, 25-19 and 25-14 to improve to 11-2, while CUA falls to 9-4.

Leading the way for CUA were Claudia Jean with 13 digs and six kills, and Katie Chefalas with 15 digs and two kills.

Bridget Kulesh added four kills, Mariana Cruz handed out 16 assists and Kelly Crimmins totaled four kills and a block for the Cardinals.

For Christopher Newport, Alyssa Kidd (24) and Rachel Conway (12) both finished in double figures in assists, while Abby Hogge totaled a team-high 15 digs.  Bailey Jensen was the team leader in kills with nine.

On Saturday, CUA will play two matches, beginning at 1 p.m. vs. Marymount.  The Cardinals will then close out their weekend vs. Hollins at 3 on the campus of Marymount.
