WASHINGTON – The Cardinals remained perfect with a 5-4 win
over St. Mary's on Thursday afternoon. The match
originally started on September 8, but was halted due to a severe
rainstorm. Caitlin Porter, Elizabeth Harvey, Sam Boger and
Emma Needham earned singles wins for CUA.
St. Mary's received a first flight singles win from Shannon
Ramsey 6-4, 6-3 over Ritamarie Holden, while Porter took down
Lauren Rost 6-3, 6-2 at the second flight.
Isabel Tanco was upended 6-4, 6-1 at third singles, while Harvey
scored a 7-6, 6-4 win over Emily Rost at the fourth flight.
Rounding out singles play were Boger, who picked up a 6-0, 2-6,
6-1 win over Alyssa Stine at the fifth flight, and Needham, who
earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Chelsea Bradcovich at the sixth
flight.
In doubles competition, Margie Selinger and Elaina Sceusa teamed
up for CUA's lone doubles point at the first flight.
They defeated Shannon Ramsey and Emily Stumpfig 8-6.
Lauren and Emily Rost earned an 8-5 win over Holden and Porter at
the second flight and Bradcovich and Anna Passanitti downed Tanco
and Needham 8-3 at the third flight.
CUA will be back in action on Thursday, September 29 when the
Cardinals travel to face Stevenson. Start time is set for 2
p.m.
