Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – It was another pair of sweeps for the
Cardinals on Saturday, with 3-0 wins over Lancaster Bible and
Washington College. With the wins CUA improves to 9-3,
running its win streak to five. The Cardinals are also now
7-1 inside the DuFour Center this season.
CUA won its first match vs. Lancaster Bible 3-0 with game scores
of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-13. The Cardinals received 22 assists
from freshman Mariana Cruz and seven from classmate Fallon
Foster.
Claudia Jean and Kristina Purcell led the Cardinals in digs with
14 apiece, while Kelly Crimmins was the team leader in kills with
eight.
Bridget Kulesh and Audrey Bizak totaled seven kills each and Cruz
led the team with four aces.
In the nightcap, CUA raced past Washington College by a 3-0 score,
with the Cardinals taking the sets 25-23, 25-22 and 25-20.
Jean finished with 15 digs this time around, while Katie Chefalas
totaled 14 and Purcell added 12.
Jean notched a double-double with 11 kills, while Kulesh finished
with nine and Chefalas seven.
Foster was the team leader in assists with 19, while Cruz totaled
13 and Purcell added four. Foster also had eight digs and a
pair of aces.
CUA faces a tough test its next time out when the Cardinals travel
to face nationally ranked Christopher Newport on Friday, September
21. Start time is set for 7 p.m.
