YORK, Pa. – CUA breezed to its first win of the 2012-13 season on Saturday, sweeping past York 9-0.  Margie Selinger, Ritamarie Holden, Elaina Sceusa, Caitlin Porter, Isabel Tanco and Emma Needham earned singles wins for the Cardinals, and Selinger and Sceusca, Tanco and Andie Ingram, as well as Porter and Holden won doubles points.

Selinger got CUA started with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Dea Vlahos at first singles.  She pounded out her ground strokes and also had several nice passing shots.  Holden followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory vs. Megan McCullin at the second flight.

Sceusa picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win over Nikki Olsen at third singles with great movement and Porter defeated Emily Price 6-1, 6-3 at fourth singles.

Tanco downed Lauren Valles 6-4, 6-2 at the fifth flight , and Needham closed out singles action with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Emily Skutnik in a spectacular match.

In doubles play, Selinger and Sceusa won the first flight match 8-4, while Tanco and Ingram came away with an 8-6 win over Olsen and Price at the second flight.  Tanco and Ingram had been down 4-6 earlier in the match, before battling back to earn the win.

Porter and Holden closed things out with an 8-2 win at the third flight.

The Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel down the street to face Trinity.  Start time is set for 4 p.m.
