SCRANTON, Pa. – CUA suffered its first Landmark Conference
loss of the season on Thursday, dropping a 6-3 decision at
Scranton. Reigning conference Player of the Week Jean Paul
Roman earned a win at second singles for CUA, while Kyle Kramer won
the sixth singles point.
Scranton's Tim McGurrin downed Cassian Utrie 6-1, 6-3 at the
first singles flight, while Roman picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win over Joe
Morra at the second flight.
Mike Pannone defeated Brian Bradley 6-3, 6-2 at the third singles
flight, while Jonathan Russo downed Joe Peters 6-3, 6-4 at the
fourth flight.
At fifth singles, Scranton's Harry Bonet earned a 6-2, 6-4 win
over Jason Quisberth, and Kramer closed out singles play with a
6-2, 6-4 win over Brian Williams.
In doubles action, Morra and Pannone defeated Roman and Utrie 8-6
at the first flight, while Bennett Kelley and McGurrin downed
Kramer and Peters 9-7 at the second flight.
Bradley and Quisberth picked up an 8-5 win at the third flight for
CUA's third point of the afternoon.
The Cardinals return to the court on Wednesday, April 11 when CUA
welcomes Goucher to town for a 3 p.m. match.
