WASHINGTON – CUA suffered its first conference loss of the
season on Saturday, falling to Moravian in a tight match,
5-4. Elaina Sceusa, Caitlin Porter and Isabel Tanco earned
singles wins for the Cardinals, while Porter and Ritamarie Holden
came away with a doubles point.
In singles action, Margie Selinger fell to Chelsea Ott 6-0, 6-0 at
the first flight, while Holden was upended 6-3, 7-6 at the second
flight.
Moravian's Katie Zien earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Andie
Ingram at the third flight, but CUA won the final three matches,
beginning with Sceusa's 6-0, 6-0 win over Brianna Kavanagh at
the fourth flight.
Porter downed Erica Venuti 6-5, 7-6 at the fifth flight and Tanco
defeated Olivia Sonnabend 6-1, 6-1 at the sixth flight.
In doubles action, Ott and Zien earned an 8-0 win over Ingram and
Tanco at the first flight, while Carley Agrifolio and Venuti
defeated Selinger and Sceusa 9-8 at the second flight.
Porter and Holden earned an 8-6 win over Sonnabend and Kavanagh at
the third doubles flight.
CUA returns to the court on April 5 when the Cardinals face
Scranton in Pennsylvania. Start time is set for noon.
