Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – In a back-and-forth match, CUA fell
to Mary Washington 3-2 on Thursday evening. The Eagles took
the first set 25-21, before the Cardinals evened things up with a
25-21 second set win. UMW then went in front with a 25-19 win
in set three, and CUA tied the score again with a 25-19 win of
their own. Mary Washington came out on top in the fifth and
final set, 15-13.
CUA had two players finish with double-digit dig totals, including
Claudia Jean (22) and Mariana Cruz (13). Megan Chefalas added
eight digs.
Jean also totaled a team-high 14 kills, while Katie Chefalas and
Bridget Kulesh added 10 apiece.
Cruz led the Cardinals with 35 assists, and Audrey Bizak was the
team leader in blocks with four.
For Mary Washington, four different players had double figure
kills, led by Kayla Crawford with 16.
Maggie Parrish led the team with 33 assists, while Courtney
Guengerich added 19 of her own.
CUA closes out its regular season on Saturday when the Cardinals
host a tri-match, welcoming Bridgewater and Frostburg State to the
DuFour Center. CUA will meet Bridgewater at 11 a.m., before
closing things out at 3 p.m. against the Bobcats.
