Cardinals beat St. Mary's in fall opener

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Cardinals earned their first win of the 2011 fall season on Saturday with a 7-2 win over St. Mary's on the road.  Caitlin Porter won both of her single matches, 6-1, 6-1.  In doubles, Ritmarie Holden and Amanda Pellegrino beat Alli Crawfor and Alyssa Stine of St. Mary's 8-4.

Andie Ingram got things rolling for CUA with a 6-2, 6-4 win at first singles and Elaina Sceusa followed up with a 6-2, 6-0 win at second singles.  Holden beat Melissa Bowman in the third and Porter downed Alyssa Stine 6-1, 6-1 at the fourth flight. Emily Stumfig lost at the fifth singles and Emma Needham won at the sixth singles.

In doubles action, Sceusa and Porter won in the second flight and Holden and Pellegrino won in the third.  

The Cardinals will return to action on Sunday when they take on St. Vincent at home. Match is set to start at 1:30p.m
