Cardinals earn first win of fall season

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.- The Cardinals earned their first win of the 2011 fall season on Saturday with a 7-2 win over St. Mary's on the road. Brian Bradley swept both of his single matches, 6-0, 6-0.  In doubles, Cassian Utrie and Jean Paul Roman beat Andrew Gear and Jay Guzzone of St. Mary's 8-6 and Joe Peters and Kyle Kramer of CUA won 8-6.

Utrie got things rolling for CUA with a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles and Andrew Gear followed up with a 6-1, 6-3 loss at second singles.  Brandley beat Gabe Jensen in the third and Jason Quisberth downed Kyle Feeley 6-1, 6-1 at the fourth flight. Roman and Kramer made it four straight winning both sets.

In doubles action, Utrie and Roman got CUA off to a strong start with a win at the first flight and Peters and Kramer won at the third flight.

The Cardinals will return to action on Friday when they travel to take on Hood College. Match is set to start at 3:30p.m
